Board of Trustees

Meet the Kaimata School Board 2023

Larry Blair- Presiding Member

I’m self-employed providing operations support and project management services to the Oil & Gas Industry.

I have 3 boys at Kaimata and this will be the start of my second term on the board.

I am a big advocate of small rural schools. The lower number of children creates space for a personalised learning experience and the high levels of community involvement provide rich learning opportunities. My objective is to ensure Kaimata is well resourced and our kids are able to buck the current trends in New Zealand educational outcomes. If we are producing kids that are curious and critical thinkers, that leave our school well equipped with the tools to interpret and interact with the world around them, we are on the right track.

Alice Tocher

Alice Tocher, mum of Charlotte and William, both at Kaimata School.  My husband Mark and I both went to country schools like Kaimata and love that our children are getting the same opportunity.  I’m a lawyer and partner at Govett Quilliam.  I enjoy spending time with friends and family and playing a bit of hockey!

Tim Verry

I live in Tarata with my wife Maggie and our 3 children, 1 of which is in his first year at Kaimata School. I work at BTW Company Ltd in New Plymouth as a Senior Surveyor and get out on the farm

Emma Boyd

My name is Emma Boyd and I am a self-employed writer and photographer. I have three children at Kaimata School, Mahea (10), Ahi (8) and my youngest Pia (6). We live in Inglewood on a piece of land with lots of fruit trees and veg gardens and feel very lucky to be able to be a part of the rural community out at Kaimata School. I hold the policy portfolio on the BOT and am passionate about our wonderful Kaimata kids and helping them to realise their full potential as learners and members of our wonderful community.
